Life is unpredictable. Nothing new to young Hawksley Pardee in this small Midwestern town; the future holds such promise, yet in a short span everything comes apart, and fast. Hawk's troubles begin when he finds his young wife in bed with a female neighbor, a divorcee. He tosses her out. Still reeling from the betrayal, he's presented with a new unwanted challenge- a mid-level drug dealer and his partner - not exactly the neighborly type, has moved in next door. In no time Hawk finds himself in a tussle with the dealer. Hawk next contracts Lyme disease, which seriously messes with his immune system: distressed, dizzy, every muscle in his body hurting, and unable to focus on simple things Hawk can barely drag himself to work at the plywood factory. Solace comes from two unexpected sources, an abandoned puppy and kitten, and the remorseful neighbor who slept with his wife. Things start to look up when one Saturday Hawk visits a farmer's market and bumps into a woman he carried a torch for in high school. Delighted with possible romance, Hawk hopes his troubles are behind him. His vengeful drug-dealing neighbor has different ideas. When he's murdered, Hawk becomes the number-one suspect and is forced to clear his name. Fresh, complex, and well-paced, with an ending that keeps readers guessing, How Things Unravel delivers a tale of revenge and the unwanted consequences that follow in its wake.
Pixel and Pen Studios started as Line By Lion Publications, a publishing house dedicated to the concept that authors, and readers, deserved more. More representation, more diversity, more unique storylines. They needed a publisher who, as an author herself, would treat an author's work with the same dedication and passion as the author did. So, she openened Line By Lion Publications, a publishing house dedicated to giving an outlet to unique voices and unheard stories. Then, at her very booksigning, the author met an artist. He was the owner and creative genius behind TLJOnline. This artist started as a fan, became a friend, then her cover artist, and eventually her husband. Eventually, though, as they merged their lives, it only made sense that they would merge their businesses. Thus, Pixel and Pen Studios was born, a place where authors and artists all over the world are celebrated and where their unique voices and styles come to life. We are more than a publishing house, we are a family of wierdos, geeks, and creatives working together and supporting each other. And what we produce is more than books are art, they are gateways into another world. We are so glad that you decided to join us! Pull up a chair, pour yourself some coffee, tea, whiskey (we don't judge) and take a look at all we have to offer!
